Glass, Capt. Daniel R.

Scope and Content: The Captain Daniel Glass Papers (1827) consist of one letter written by Daniel R. Glass while onboard the Barque Dorabella in Calcutta to his father, Captain Nathaniel Glass, in Duxbury, 1827.  He writes of his passage, the cargo and the loss of one man to cholera.

Biographical Information: Daniel R.Glass was the son of Nathaniel Glass and Sarah Ripley.  He was born in Duxbury, MA on February 3, 1808 and lost at sea in 1839.  In October of 1838 he was engaged to marry to Mary Wright of Marshfield.
