Biographical Sketch:
Simeon Weston Sr. (1780-1805) was born in Duxbury, MA to Asa Weston and his first wife, Jane Brewster. Simeon’s father was a shipwright who built a two-story home on Duck Hill. Jane Brewster was a descendant of the Pilgrim Elder William Brewster. Like many young men in Duxbury in the late 18th century, Simeon chose a career at sea, rising to the rank of first mate. He sailed in several merchant vessels, including the Maria (built in Duxbury and owned by Ezra Weston) and the Jubilee. His voyages took him to the Grand Banks, Canada, Liverpool, Savannah, and the Caribbean.

He married Deborah Baker in 1804. She was the daughter of Charles Baker and Deborah Williamson. Simeon and Deborah Weston had one child, Simeon Weston Jr. On August 22, 1805, while serving under Capt. Tredwell aboard the Sally Baker, Simeon Weston Sr. was swept overboard and died at sea.

Simeon Weston Jr. (1805-1825) was the only child of Simeon and Deborah Weston. His father died at sea two months before his birth. He was raised on the Marshfield/Duxbury line in the Crooked Lane neighborhood. From 1821-1823, he lived with Capt. Eben Fish (Acorn Street) and worked in his tannery. On July 5, 1825, he drowned when his boat capsized in the Cut River during a squall.
