The Brig Globe Papers (1826-1828)

Scope and Content: The collection consists of 11 shipping related documents from the brig Globe in two folders.  Two of the documents are written in Swedish, one in Russian.

Biographical Information: The Globe was a 215 ton brig built in Duxbury, Massachuestts.  Between 1826-1828 it made two journeys to northern Europe under Captain Jacob Smith.

Organization: The collection consists of two folders.

 

The Schooner Palinurus Papers (1880)

Scope and Content: The collection consists of written estimates for repairs to and expenses of the Schooner Palinurus created by Mr. C. P. Patterson, Superintendent of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey in 1880.

Biographical Information: The Schooner Palinurus was used by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey.  Gershom Bradford of Duxbury was an assistant on the ship when it conducted surveys of oyster beds for both the Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries and for state agencies.  For a time, Captain Bradford’s wife, Minnie Winsor Bradford, lived aboard the ship with her husband.

Organization: The collection consists of one folder.
