The Winsor family in Duxbury was quite extensive. Samuel Winsor was the first of the family to arrive in Duxbury and is the progenitor of most of the Winsors. Joshua Winsor, his brother Nathaniel, Sr. and their sons were prosperous shipbuilders. The Duxbury Rural & Historical Society’s headquarters are located in the stately Federal mansion that was built by Nathaniel Winsor, Jr. There are many papers in the Drew Archives that were created by Winsors.
