Scope and Content:
The collection consists of album pages and loose photographs (c. 1940-1978) from the estate of Gwladys Dora Pugh (1908-2001). Ms. Pugh was a resident of Duxbury, MA from the 1950s until the 1990s. The photographs in the collection include Fourth of July parades in Duxbury (1962, 1970 and 1976) as well as photos of her home, both interior and exterior, at 346 Washington Street. Also included are images of the Tall Ships visit to Boston for the Bicentennial in 1976 and numerous photographs of the Plymouth County Hospital in South Hanson, MA. A number of unidentified B&W photos of family (c. 1950s) are assumed to be relatives of Ms. Pugh.

Biographical Information:
Gwladys Dora Pugh (1908-2001) was born in Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Rev. Ernest and Annie A. Pugh. Her father was from England and her mother was from Wales. G. Dora Pugh lived for a time in Puerto Rico as a child while her father was a minster on that island and St. Croix. Upon returning to the US, the Pughs lived in Chicopee, Somerville, and eventually in Plymouth. Rev. Pugh became the minister of the Christ Episcopal Church in 1944 and served there until his retirement in 1951. The Pughs purchased the house at 346 Washington Street, Duxbury. G. Dora Pugh lived there for the remainder of the 20th century, often photographing the annual Fourth of July parade that went by her house. For many years she worked at the Plymouth County Hospital in South Hanson, MA. She died on Jan. 4, 2001.
